I'm a Grown Adult Who's Finally Reading Harry Potter for the First Time #1

And this shit SLAPS.

(Also I'm still writing Cherrytown. More is coming so relax, RELAX)

But listen real quick:

I tried to read Harry Potter when I was a kid, however I had (still have) what doctors, researchers, and Michael Phelps refer to as ADHD. I skipped chapters when I got bored (I mean back then I got bored after doing literally anything for more than thirty minutes so I don't really blame The Ol’ Pottster).

Anyway, that was the past. I'm an adult now. I've somewhat overcome my ADHD namely through the use of medically prescribed uppers (hell yeah). So now that I'm 35 years of age I decided, rather spontaneously, to finally read this series written for children.

And did I mention it absolutely SLAPS?

Like, a fantasy MYSTERY? Are you even kidding on me? Each chapter feels meaningful and moves everything along. I love the setting of this, like, gothic castle elementary school. And the teachers fucking HATE these kids. It's awesome. I haven't skipped a chapter yet (I'm still on the first book so no spoilers).

And I know I'm coming into this whole thing like 30 years late and there's probably been some, uh, discussions regarding the series as a whole, but I'll look at all that when I'm done. Also within that 30 year span JK Rowling became (or finally revealed herself to be via twitter like some racist online debutante ball) a miserable transphobic monster (I googled, “what has JK Rowling said that is bad,” and let me tell you she has said SO MANY things that are bad), but hey I never got swept up into this Potterverse wave or whatever people call it, and I also felt left out as a kid because my brain apparently didn't work like other's did (how y’all paid attention for more than thirty minutes on anything baffles me), so I'm finally reading all these even though the author sucks ass as a person.

Anyway, rant over. Nearly done with the first book. I'll update you on my thoughts as I read or something I dunno.

In the meantime, back to writing.
